We’ve all been there before, it’s 2 hours into your flight, car ride or train ride and it hits you-you are really hungry and there is no food in sight. Panic sets in, you start checking your watch every other minute to see how much further you have to go, but you are stuck for what seems like an eternity with no snacks and now a grumbling belly. The tiny bag of peanuts, potato chips or other snacks provided are just not going to get you through this trip………HELP!
This mid-trip meltdown can be easily avoided! You can arrive at your destination a happy, relaxed version of yourself with some simple planning ahead.
1. Eat before your trip. You never know when delays will occur, traffic will stop, connections will be missed or any other typical travel day inconveniences. If that means getting up 30 minutes earlier-do it.
2. Bring your own snacks. If you want to be a savvy smart traveler, you have to bring your own food. A fast trip to the store a few days before your trip can prevent the hangry monster from showing up. I love Sabra mini hummus pretzel snacks, Food Should Taste Good multi grain chips and Stacy’s pita chips. They come in portable size bags that are great on the go.
3. Stay hydrated. Travel, especially air travel, is dehydrating. Bring water, or as soon as you pass security get water. I always bring One coconut water with pineapple. Yum.
