Just because you are traveling doesn’t mean your wellness program has to stop. Here are some ways to keep up with your program while you are on the road and how to try some new, fun things while you are out and about.
1. Call your hotel concierge before your trip and ask about hotel gym and gyms close by your hotel. Many offer day passes and you can take a fun class. I also ask about great hikes or walks around whatever city I am in-it is the best way to see the sights and get some exercise.
2. Let technology help you while traveling. I use apps like Map My Run, Gymsurfing, Fitness Finder, GYMPASS and Core Direction. Why not take a Zumba class in Miami, Yoga in LA, or Barre class in NYC? I put a post on my social media and say “I’m in Dallas, who wants to take a class with me?” Plan ahead and get moving.
3. I also do Orange theory in any city I am traveling to. It’s a great 60 minute workout that I absolutely love. Gailen David and I do this class together and have so much fun.
4. Bring your food with you. I travel with my mini blender for my morning protein shakes. I bring my individual packages and I’m ready to go in the morning. A great start in the morning leads to a productive day. I also always have snacks on me. Granola bars, trail mix, apples, multigrain crackers are always in my travel bag. You never know what will happen while out and exploring!
All it takes is a little effort to take your wellness program on the road. Safe travels and ALOHA!
